Botswana
Satellite Symposium on HIV/AIDS
The Government of Botswana sponsored by ACHAP under the leadership
of NACA, is coordinating the hosting of a symposium at the XIV International
Conference on HIV/AIDS, which takes place in Barcelona Spain 7 -
12 July 2002. The topic of the symposium is "Ntwa
e Bolotse: Botswana's War Against HIV/AIDS". Its objectives
are: to shape the comprehensive approach to HIV/AIDS being implemented
by various actors in Botswana; to provide an opportunity for feedback
on these activities from an international audience; to foster the
creation of new partnerships against the epidemic in the next strategic
plan. The event is sponsored by ACHAP.

UB40
in Concert - DELAYED INDEFINITELY!
World-renowned reggae outfit UB40 will hold a concert in Gaborone,
Botswana on April 12th. The concert, which will be held at the National
Stadium, is intended to raise awareness on the HIV/AIDS as well
as sending a message of hope to those infected with the virus.
UB40
are the United Nations Goodwill Ambassadors. They have recorded
an HIV/AIDS awareness single in their newly released album "Cover
Up". They also donated money to AIDS charities in Africa as
part of their effort in the fight against HIV/AIDS. [contact

The Government of Botswana and UNDP are in process of developing
Botswana's first State of the Environment Review Report. A national
workshop to review the draft final report will be in the second

Regional
Seminar on HIV/AIDS and PRS
The purpose of the workshop is to brainstorm on ways to mainstream
HIV/AIDS into poverty reduction strategies. The Regional Seminar
of HIV/AIDS and PRS, which will be held in Maun, will be attended
by representatives from UNDP, NACA, Ministry of Finance and Development
Planning, NGOs and their counterparts from the SADC region. It is
organised by the UNDP Regional Programme on HIV/AIDS, whose secretariat
